We don’t want Brisbane’s defining landmark to be a mega-casino. Come show your opposition to unsustainable development and call on the State Government to use this valuable CBD land for something else.
The public rally will be brief and will be followed by a big community picnic lunch in Queens Park. Bring along some food to share.
There will also be information stalls, live entertainment, group discussions and workshops in the afternoon in Queens Park. Come along to learn more about the community campaign against the Queens Wharf Casino and other unsustainable developments throughout Brisbane.
We'll be hanging out in this public space for 24 hours. Participants are encouraged to join us in staying the night.
We are calling for:
A democratic process to determine what happens on the site, not fake consultation
A new vision of development that puts community need, public amenity, infrastructure, and green space, ahead of the profits of corporations
A positive Brisbane identity by affirming our music, arts, history, and Indigenous culture, not through turning Brisbane literally into Bris-vegas
